The Special Guests for our second show are:
Fred MacAuley: “Having presented the very funny and eventful MacAulay and Co. on BBC Radio Scotland for almost 18 years and with a string of tv appearances, Fred’s on air witticisms and on screen reputation are the product of years of experience on the live circuit, including a stint as the first ever-Scottish compere at the Comedy Store in London. Arriving late to the world of stand-up comedy in the early 90’s, he has gone on to be a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe (this will be his 29th) and at comedy festivals worldwide. Appearances on many Radio 4 comedy panel shows including I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue, Just A Minute, The Unbelievable Truth and The News Quiz guarantee an audience for Fred’s Live stand-up tours. He has successfully featured in and presented many programmes for BBC Scotland: he hosted the talk show McCoist and MacAulay and presented Life According to Fred, Hoots, Simply Fred and Scots on the Box, as well as the 2014 On The Road magazine programme with Martell Maxwell. On national BBC Television he has been a panelist on shows including Mock the Week, QI and Have I Got News For You. In addition, in the US he was a guest on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and his performance at The Montreal Comedy Festival has been shown coast to coast in North America as well. He lasted 7 out of 11 nights when he sang on Comic Relief Does Fame Academy. Further charity challenges saw him kayak the Caledonian Canal for Sport Relief in temperatures as low as -18 Celsius and in 2011 he scaled Mt Kilimanjaro. His West Highland Way-Hey walk was broadcast on Hogmanay 2012 on STV. Before his comedy career took off, he studied at the University of Dundee and graduated with an MA in Accountancy and Jurisprudence. He received an honorary doctorate (LLD) from the same University in 2006 in appreciation of his time there as Rector. He is married with three grown up children. He is much in demand as an after-dinner speaker and awards presenter, which has taken him to Australia, Hong Kong, America, Iceland, France and Spain.”
Jojo Sutherland: “Since bursting onto the scene in March 2002, Jojo Sutherland has climbed the comedy ladder at an alarming pace. She regularly plays at comedy clubs across Scotland and the North of England and is also in great demand for corporate gigs. As a regular at The Stand Comedy Club in Edinburgh and Glasgow, she alternates between her regular set and compering. Her “healthy neglect” approach to parenting forms the backbone to her material interspersed with everyday grievances and motherly advice. This charismatic mother of four goes to great lengths to glean material, the most extreme example being her starring role in Channel 4’s award winning series " Wife Swap” That experience not only features in her stand-up with hysterical results but has been made into a full length show called “Wife Idol - The Rivals” which she has written and performs with her own theatre company The One-Handed Women. As an accomplished actress Jojo frequently appears on stage and undertakes work from a variety of fields including radio presenting and improvisational forum theatre, she has also appeared in several short films. Jojo was a finalist in the inaugural Funny Women Comedy Awards and was part of two world record breaking events - Stand Up 150 and One Big Laugh."
Edward Reid: “Known across the country as the Nursery Rhyme guy after his performance on Britain’s Got Talent, Edward went on to win Radio Forth’s best Forth Fringe Show and was awarded Entertainer of the Year with Big Hearted Scotland. Edward has worked in theatre, radio and is a popular host at corporate events from ladies’ lunches, award ceremonies, and charity balls. In 2016, Edward trained with The British School of Meditation and is also a qualified meditation teacher specialising in mindfulness. He is now a regular keynote speaker at conferences and mental health events – bringing a fun accessible way to well being and happiness.”
Gina McKie: “I want to get to know you!”. That’s Gina’s passion in life. She might sit behind that mic and chat away. Ultimately, she wants to get to know you. We all have a story in life, what is yours? Gina studied radio broadcasting at college when she left school and has never left the industry since her teenage years. There’s nothing she has not done in this business and will only talk about it when you meet her. Personal development is a huge part of Gina’s life. She has a vested interest in this field. Her belief in life is that you must be true to yourself. If you meet her, she will probably say to you that you cannot be everyone’s cup of tea or you would be a mug.”
